About me
I'm Ademola, a developmental editor, copy editor, and technical writer. I work with fiction and nonfiction authors around the world, helping them shape stronger manuscripts through thoughtful developmental editing and careful copy editing.
My path into editing wasn't a straight line. I started in newsrooms, editing copy on deadline where there was no room for a sentence that didn't earn its place. From there I moved into technical writing, where the entire job is taking something complicated and making it make sense to someone who's never seen it before. Somewhere along the way, manuscripts pulled me in. Fiction and nonfiction both, for the same reason. I like figuring out what a piece of writing is actually trying to do, then helping the writer get there.
That mix sounds unusual on paper, but it's really one skill applied in different rooms. News taught me to cut what doesn't matter. Technical writing taught me that clarity isn't optional. Editing manuscripts taught me that structure is often the real problem, even when a writer thinks it's the prose.

I don't work in just one lane, and I think that's an advantage for you. If your novel needs developmental work, I can find the structural cracks hiding under decent sentences. My background in journalism, technical writing, and manuscript editing means I approach every project from more than one angle. I pay attention to structure, clarity, and language at the same time, so I can spot the bigger issues without losing sight of the details. The goal isn't simply a cleaner manuscript. It's a stronger book that still sounds like you.
I'm drawn to character-driven fiction and nonfiction with something real to say, but I don't limit myself to a narrow genre list. Good writing has the same needs no matter what shelf it sits on: clarity, structure, and an editor who understands what you're trying to build.
How I work
I lead with honesty, not encouragement for its own sake. If something in your manuscript isn't working, I'll say so directly and explain why. Then I'll give you a clear way to fix it, not just a list of what's wrong.
I don't give feedback to prove I read closely. Every note is meant to move your manuscript toward what you're trying to build, not toward what I might have written instead. You know your story better than I do. My job is helping you tell it well.
